Faith & Politics: Speak the Truth

Before you begin reading this article, look for the hanger without the shirt.

“Awake, awake! Shake yourself from the dust; arise…” (Isaiah 52:2)

Here’s the truth: we can no longer afford to sit back, lulled into complacency, shackled by the comfort of silence. Our communities, our nation, and our very souls demand more. The call is clear — AWAKE. It’s time to rise from the dust, shake off the chains of captivity, and step into the authority God has already given us.

Your sword has not been stolen. It has not been dulled by the chaos of the world or the fear-mongering of political systems. Pick up your sword — the word of God, sharp and living — and stand firm. The commissioned pickaxe of faith is in your hand, meant to break up the hardened ground of injustice, apathy, and deceit. “Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.” (Psalm 24:7–9)

Our voices matter. In fact, they are a divine tool, designed to bring alignment with God’s truth. I refuse to let my voice be stolen by fear, political polarization, or societal pressure. We are not called to echo empty rhetoric; we are commissioned to speak the true word of God without the fear of man.

Do not be misled. The enemy thrives in confusion and division, but God calls us to clarity and unity. This is not about picking sides on a ballot; it’s about standing on the side of truth, justice, and righteousness. Be intentional. Stand in your God-given authority. Use your voice to declare what God is saying, even when it’s unpopular, even when it challenges the status quo.

And let me be clear — all Christianity is not the same. Please stop lumping us all together. There are those who wear the title “Christian” but whose actions do not align with the teachings of the Bible. Then there are those of us who do our best to live according to God’s word, striving to embody the heart of scriptures like Micah 6:8 in The Message Bible: “Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, and don’t take yourself too seriously — take God seriously.” There are voices like Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde, who believe in extending mercy, grace, and love to others.

So please, do not put all of us into one pot. There are those of us genuinely trying to live lives rooted in faith, seeking justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God. There are those of us who believe in unity, not just within Christianity but across different faiths and traditions. We are not monolithic, and our faith is not defined by political affiliations or cultural stereotypes.

We are not bystanders in this journey of faith and politics. We are participants, commissioned to bring heaven’s influence into earthly systems. Speak boldly. Live audaciously. And even if you have to search for the hanger without the shirt, trust me — it’s there. Your voice holds the power to shift atmospheres and change the narrative.
