INSPIRE Series: Stay The Course

Let me inspire you with a personal reflection on the power of perseverance, staying the course, and celebrating even the smallest victories. Recently, I received my Medium statistics, revealing that I have garnered over 300 subscribers on the platform. Specifically, from December 15 to December 22, 2023, my numbers displayed 42 views, 19 reads, 2 new fans, and 1 thoughtful response. While some might be disheartened by seemingly modest figures, I choose a different perspective.

My focus zeroed in on the fact that 19 individuals took the time to read my posts within that short span, and one person even found my content compelling enough to respond. Rather than being discouraged, I see it as a clear sign that people are viewing, reading, and engaging. It reinforces my commitment to stay the course. Every view, read, and response is a testament to progress. It’s essential not to shy away from your statistics; they serve as a valuable tool to gauge growth, identify areas for adjustment, and provide reassurance that you are on the right path.

You might glance at these stats and remark on the perceived low number of views, but for me, it’s a celebration that someone took the time to read my post. The journey begins with that initial post and someone seeing it. It’s crucial to acknowledge and celebrate every win, starting with the simple act of sharing your thoughts with the world. Embrace the journey, appreciate the process, and never underestimate the impact of your voice in the digital landscape.

In the fast-paced world of social media, websites, podcasts, and online courses, it’s easy to become disheartened when assessing your progress. Whether it’s scrutinizing stats, measuring advocacy work, or reviewing your budget income and loss statement, the journey can seem overwhelming. However, amidst the challenges, it’s crucial to stay the course.

Each like, each article read, and every email sign-up signifies progress. It’s a testament that someone out there resonates with your message. Understandably, unsubscribers may come and go, but it’s essential to see it as an opportunity for them to explore your content on different platforms.

Strategic planning plays a pivotal role in maintaining a strong online presence. Consider the platforms you use, and avoid redundancy if your audience is consistent across them. Be mindful of your content’s purpose and tailor it to the strengths of each platform, whether it’s Instagram, Threads, or other mediums.

Focusing on the core message of staying the course, it’s vital to acknowledge both wins and areas that need adjustment without dwelling on setbacks. You’re not failing; you’re building. Doing one thing on this list this week or next week creates success for you.

As an example, let’s look at the following list. Any one of these achievements listed below serves as a roadmap, guiding your path toward progress:

  1. Naming your podcast
  2. Recording your first podcast episode
  3. Outlining and titling your book
  4. Creating your first offer
  5. Engaging on social media
  6. Advocating for what matters
  7. Registering your trade name
  8. Starting a YouTube channel
  9. Selling a product or service
  10. Scheduling calls with potential mentors or coaches or mentees
  11. Maintaining authenticity. Never compromise who you are.

Don’t compare yourself with others. I read somewhere that comparison is the thief of joy. Yes, network. Scroll social media. Just do not get stuck there wondering why you are not further along. Here’s the truth. Everything you see on social media may not be true. The path to success is unique for each individual. Take the time to identify your focus, strengths, and circle of influence. Revisit forgotten content, repurpose it, and keep your business strategy straightforward.
